Linde to build $400m ASU for US blue ammonia plant


Linde will build a new $400m air separation unit (ASU) to supply oxygen and nitrogen to CF Industries, Jera, and Mitsui’s blue hydrogen-based ammonia plant in Louisiana, US.

The industrial gas major said the ASU would be built on site at the blue ammonia plant in Ascension Parish and was expected to start up in 2029.

It signed the new long-term agreement with the CF, Jera, and Mitsui joint venture Blue Point Number One, which took a $4bn final investment decision on the 1.4 million tonne blue ammonia plant in April.
