Masdar Clean Energy: Hydrogen on the cusp of being competitive with other energy sources; now is the time to accelerate investment

H2 View speaks exclusively with Fawaz Hadi Salem Ali Al Muharrami, Acting Executive Director of Masdar Clean Energy, to find out more about Abu Dhabi’s flagship sustainable urban development, Masdar City, and hydrogen’s role here, including an update on the green hydrogen demonstrator plant announced at the start of the year.

In May 2006, Abu Dhabi embarked on a journey of energy sustainability with the launch of Masdar, its flagship renewable energy company. Can you share with us the story of Masdar’s creation, why it was created, and the journey it’s been on so far to where it is today?

Masdar was established in 2006 by the Abu Dhabi Government through Mubadala Investment Company, with a mandate to advance the development and adoption of clean energy solutions and sustainable urban development, as a way to address sustainability challenges on a local, regional and global scale.
