Nel ASA has been awarded a 20MW electrolyser contract with Everfuel for the green hydrogen production facility located adjacent to the Fredericia refinery in Denmark.
Announcing the contract on 30th December, Nel said the Fredericia facility will have a production capacity of up to eight tonnes per day of green hydrogen, made from renewable wind power, with ten tonnes of storage capacity.
The electrolyser will be delivered this year and will be fully operational in mid-2022.
“Everfuel’s ambition is to commercialise the green hydrogen value chain to support Europe’s goal of becoming carbon neutral,” commented Jon André Løkke, CEO of Nel
“This is the first important step, and we are proud to announce this contract for the green hydrogen production facility in Fredericia, positioning our partner Everfuel in the pole position for the expected growth and expansion of hydrogen as the key energy carrier in Denmark.”
“This is a major step towards establishing our own green hydrogen production through the HySynergy electrolyser in Fredericia in close cooperation with Shell’s refinery operations,” added Jacob Krogsgaard, CEO of Everfuel.
“It will feed hydrogen directly into the Everfuel value chain, connecting renewable energy production and electrolysis with distribution on high-capacity hydrogen trailers to fuelling stations and end-users. This is at the core of our ambition of commercialising the green hydrogen value chain for zero-emission mobility.”
