New eco-friendly fuel for fuel cell production

Researchers at the University of Saskatchewan have developed a new eco-friendly fuel which can be used to create other by-products for hydrogen fuel cells.

As part of their research, Sonil Nanda, USask chemical and biological engineering research associate and his supervisor Ajay Dalai produced a high-quality synthesis gas.

Synthesis gas, or syngas, consists of hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and methane and can be used to create products such as hydrogen fuel cells and green diesel.

“We are improving the eco-friendly technologies to more efficiently produce the next generation of biofuels that can help lower greenhouse emissions,” said Nanda.
