NGN to test gas network procedures for suitability in carrying hydrogen

Northern Gas Networks (NGN) has had permission granted by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council to use an area of disused land to test standard gas network procedures using hydrogen.

This will be tested in an area of Middlesbrough, UK called South Bank.

The proposal for South Bank is part of the next phase of the H21 project, a major collaborative UK gas industry hydrogen programme being led by NGN to assess the suitability for the UK’s gas network to carry hydrogen.
