‘No way we are going to withdraw’: CWP stands firm on Mauritania hydrogen project despite demand gap


CWP Global has reaffirmed its commitment to developing its multi-gigawatt green hydrogen plant in Mauritania despite putting the plans on ice due to a lack of offtake.

It follows reports that CWP founder and CEO, Mark Crandall, said it had frozen the firm’s Aman project, which plans to produce up to 10 million tonnes of green ammonia per year from 30GW of renewables, after revealing that no buyers had yet come forward.

CWP also planned to produce green iron using the project’s hydrogen for export.
