North America on track to lose 20% global hydrogen market share by 2030 as US policy shifts


New market intelligence has warned that North America’s global market share in low-carbon hydrogen could drop almost 20% by 2030 due to shifts under the Trump administration.

The findings published on Thursday (May 29) by Research and Markets said the region’s projected share of global low-carbon hydrogen capacity is “set to drop” from 46% today to 28% by the end of the decade.

It said growing headwinds from policy shifts, in particular under the Trump administration, are “curbing” green hydrogen momentum through halted funding and high tariffs on imports.
