Oman is planning hydrogen pipelines spanning 300-400km to serve its green hydrogen industry as well as a CO2 transport network by 2030, according to OQ Gas Networks’ 2024 Annual Report.
Funding is expected to be finalised by 2027, according to the natural gas transmission operator’s report.
OQGN will follow a phased approach, beginning with regional pipelines that can later be expanded into a nationwide network.
The Sultanate’s vast geography and varied topography, with mountains, deserts, valleys and 1,700km of coastline, will present infrastructural challenges, certainly in a relatively short timeframe.
