Plans unveiled for major hydrogen injection project in Canada

Plans for one of Canada’s largest green hydrogen projects for injection into a natural gas distribution network in Quebec are underway.

Evolugen and Gazifère, an Enbridge company, have teamed up on the project that includes the development of an approximately 20MW water electrolysis hydrogen production plant.

The plant will be built in the Masson sector of the City of Gatineau, adjacent to Evolugen’s hydroelectric facilities, which will power the electrolyser.

It is estimated that approximately 425,000 GJ of green hydrogen will be produced for injection into Gazifère’s natural gas distribution network, making it a first project of its kind in Canada.
