Frustration with policy, not technology or ambition, dominated day one of the World Hydrogen Summit.

Across the day’s sessions here in Rotterdam, industry players have reiterated calls for a more pragmatic approach to scaling clean hydrogen, especially in Europe. Various speakers have noted a recent Hydrogen Council-led trip to Shanghai and found themselves envious of the “speed and scale” going on there.

But back in Europe, the mood is very different.

Industry is looking for direction, or perhaps, manoeuvrability on demand, but instead has been hitting roadblocks.
