Primetals, Midrex and Metalloinvest to create hydrogen reduced HBI for steelmaking in Russia

With green steelmaking creating shockwaves throughout industry, Primetals, Midrex and Metalloinvest will invest $600m to develop a new hot briquetted iron (HBI) facility with hydrogen capabilities.

Set to be developed in Gubkin, Russia, the facility will be capable of producing 2.08 million metric tonnes of HBI from the start of operations in 2025.
