Railway network Südostabyernbahn to introduce Siemens Mobility hydrogen-powered trains

Siemens Mobility has begun producing hydrogen-powered trains set to be used on the Südostabyernbahn network in Germany.

From 2026, three 2-car Mireo Plus H trains will serve eight stations on the Mühldorf (Upper Bavaria) – Tüßling – Burghausen non-electrified route spanning 32.2km.

The train features a roof-mounted fuel cell and lithium-ion batteries to ensure zero-emission operations. Reportedly, it will boast 1.7MW in drive power that enables it to reach a top speed of 140km/h.
