RWE, John Cockerill to develop new pilot plant for waste-to-hydrogen production in Germany

RWE and John Cockerill have partnered to develop a new German technology facility that will optimise the production of hydrogen from municipal waste from autumn 2022.

The test facility will research one of the most environmentally friendly methods of producing hydrogen – by turning household waste into the clean energy carrier.

This unique method of producing hydrogen ultimately reduces pollution in landfills and turns it into hydrogen through John Cockerill’s specifically designed Multi Hearth Furnace, the MHF/1000.
