Scotland: 5MW electrolyser to power hydrogen-to-home heating network

Plans for a 100% hydrogen-to-home heating network on the east cost of Scotland have today (Sep 24) moved forward with an order for a 5GW electrolyser being placed.

Believed to be a world first, the project will see up to 1,093kg of green hydrogen produced daily and delivered to customers for heating and cooking applications as part of SGN’s H100 Fife project.

Manufactured by Nel, the electrolyser will be powered by an offshore wind turbine and grid electricity. 300 homes under are set to initially benefit from the hydrogen.
