Siemens Gamesa deploys hydrogen-ready service operation vessel

Siemens Gamesa has deployed a hydrogen-ready service operation vessel within its own fleet as it strives to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040.

Dubbed REM Energy, the ship is capable of running emissions free with green hydrogen or with batteries and offshore charging.

Measuring 90m long and almost 20m wide, the vessel will act as the workplace and living quarters for up to 75 offshore service technicians and 24 crew members.

On the deployment, Stephan Hauhs, Managing Director of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy Deutschland GmbH in Bremerhaven, said, “The REM Energy is setting new standards in terms of occupational safety, sustainability and efficiency.
