South Africa, Germany to collaborate on developing a hydrogen economy

South Africa and Germany will collaborate to promote the development of green hydrogen within the African nation with the country holding significant potential in becoming a powerhouse for the clean energy carrier.

In order to do this, the German Government has commissioned its development agency, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), to represent Germany in this agreement.

With the German ministry providing €12.5m ($14.25m) in funding to support development of the hydrogen economy in South Africa, the project will aim to achieve several key aspects of the ecosystem in the African nation.
