South African hospital uses hydrogen as its primary power source

Seven hydrogen fuel cell systems are being used as the primary power source for a field facility located at 1 Military Hospital in Pretoria, South Africa.

Unveiled today, the systems are part of the South African Government’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, providing a clean source of energy.

1 Military Hospital workers will receive hands-on training to ensure that they are able to operate and manage the fuel cells systems.

The project is part of a public-private partnership between the Department of Science and Innovation, the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure, the Department of Defence, Bambili Energy, HyPlat, PowerCell Sweden, Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies and Element 1.
