The South Australia government has disbanded its Office for Hydrogen Power after scrapping plans for a large-scale electrolysis and hydrogen power project.
Addressing parliament, state energy minister Tom Koutsantonis said the office would “cease to function” and have its responsibilities transferred to the Department for Energy and Mining.
The office was set up in 2022 to coordinate South Australia’s approach to hydrogen to support green steel and iron production.
