South Korea’s North Gyeongsang Province is set to host a 1MW integrated ammonia-cracking and hydrogen power generation project, which could scale up to 40MW.
US-based Amogy, GS Engineering & Construction (GS E&C), HD Hyundai Infracore (HDI) and the city of Pohang-Si plan to develop and deploy the 1MW pilot system by 2026 to provide a model for distributed hydrogen-based power generation.
The system will combine Amogy’s ammonia cracking technology and HDI’s hydrogen engine to produce power, with hopes that the installation could be scaled up to 40MW for commercial operations by 2029.
