An unnamed Spanish cement manufacturer is set to integrate green hydrogen into its production process using a 2MW electrolyser supplied by ITM Power.
The British hydrogen firm will supply its compact Neptune II electrolyser, complete with power conversion equipment and all necessary balance of plant, delivering a fully integrated solution.
The green hydrogen generated by the unit will be blended with natural gas in the cement kiln to help reduce CO2 emissions. The method was previously demonstrated in 2021, when Hanson UK and MPA successfully trialled hydrogen co-firing in cement production.
