Pan American has been dedicated solely to the design, manufacture and installation of hydrogen generation systems via SMR (steam methane reformer) technology, and there are more than 35 Pan American-designed hydrogen plants operating worldwide – some in continuous operation for 30 years.

Using its own proprietary technology, Pan American designs, manufactures and installs hydrogen generation systems with capacities between 0.1 to 12.5 MMSCFD, (0.2 to 30 tonnes per day) of hydrogen with a purity of up to 99.9999%. To ensure ease of operation and efficiency in the plant, Pan American works with industry leaders in metallurgy, catalysts and adsorbents, and control systems. Its systems incorporate only the highest quality materials, are simple to operate and boast low maintenance, a compact footprint and multiple feed gases.

Apart from the traditional uses of hydrogen in the petroleum, ammonia/fertiliser and chemical industries, 15% of the hydrogen market includes the plate glass industry, electronics industry, food industry, polyester and pharmaceutical industries.  Emerging applications are in the mobility sector, including buses, cars, material movers, trucks, ships, airplanes and rail.
