Statkraft cancels 40MW electrolyser deal with Nel amid uncertain project outlook

Statkraft has cancelled a 40MW electrolyser contract with Nel as it looks to readjust plans for a hydrogen hub in Northern Norway.

Nel said the contract for the hydropower firm’s Hydrogen Hub Mo had been highlighted as one with “significant risk” of delays or cancellation.

In the Nel statement, Bjørn Holsen, Statkraft’s Senior Vice President for Hydrogen, said, “Despite the efforts we have not been able to create a viable commercial model for the project in the current market conditions.”
