Svevind signs investment agreement for $50bn Kazakhstan green hydrogen plant

Kazakhstan aims to export electricity to EU countries via a $50bn green hydrogen plant from 2030.

H2 View reported in March that European cleantech group Svevind Energy wants to develop a 20GW green hydrogen facility in the Mangystau region of Western Kazakhstan, following the signing of an MoU in June 2021.

Now Hyrasia One, a group subsidiary, has secured an investment agreement which defines project parameters, land availability, infrastructure, movement of goods and capital, and other economic and legal matters, in a bid to reassure potential investors. However a final investment decision in the $40-50bn project won’t be made until 2026.
