The Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association’s (CHFCA) board of directors has appointed Mark Kirby as the organisation’s new President and CEO, effective 19th August (2019).

Kirby currently serves as a member of the board of directors at HTEC.

Formerly a President and CEO of Fortress Advanced Bioproducts, the Vancouver-based biotechnology division of Fortress Global Enterprises, Kirby laid the groundwork for an ongoing $45m Canadian commercial biorefinery demonstration project.

He has held leadership positions at Questair Technologies and Ballard Power Systems, where he managed the $100m divesture of the company’s automotive fuel cell business to Daimler and Ford.

Kirby also co-founded S2G Biochemicals, raising over $18m in government and private funding and developing strategic partnerships to position the company’s technology for commercialisation.
