Total Eren, VNG to collaborate on green hydrogen imports for Europe

German gas company, VNG, and French-based Total Eren have today (November 22) announced plans to collaborate on the import of green hydrogen in the form of green ammonia to Europe.

H2 View understands, VNG and its subsidiaries are currently planning the construction of a hydrogen and carbon hub in the Rostock region of Germany and is in talks with customers to evaluate the future requirements for green ammonia and green hydrogen imports.

Planned to be operational from 2028, the partners will look to import green ammonia from Total Eren’s hydrogen projects globally, including its 10GW H2 Magallanes project in Southern Chile which could produce up to 800,000 tonnes of hydrogen per year, some of which is set to be transported to Germany as green ammonia.
