Toyota celebrates hybrid vehicle sales

Unveiling a hydrogen-powered city of the future, developing technology for the Energy Observer, and committing to develop a fuel cell truck are just some of Toyota Motor’s 2020 achievements, but today the company is celebrating the sales of 15 million hybrid vehicles.

The company’s hybrid adventure began back in 1997 when it launched the world’s first mass-market hybrid electric car, the Toyota Prius.

Today, the technological leap has evolved into a global market. In Europe, the UK stands as one of the strongest markets for such technology with cumulative sales of Toyota models reaching 256,630 units at the end of March 2020.
