Toyota reveals new liquid hydrogen racer concept ahead of Le Mans


Toyota has unveiled a new liquid hydrogen racing car concept with an internal combustion engine (ICE) ahead of the 40th anniversary of the Le Mans 24 Hours race in France.

The GLR LH2 Racing Concept is designed using technology from Toyota Gazoo Racing’s GR010 Hybrid race car. It features a hydrogen-powered engine and a hybrid system incorporating an electric motor and a battery.

Toyota began testing in 2021, working with a team called Rookie Racing in Japan’s Super Taikyu endurance racing series, using a Corolla race car powered by gaseous hydrogen. In 2023, they upgraded the engine to use liquid hydrogen.
