Toyota unveils hydrogen sauna concept in collaboration with Harvia


Finland-based Harvia and Japan’s Toyota Motor Corporation have developed a concept sauna that uses hydrogen as a clean-burning fuel instead of wood or electricity.

Under the agreement, they plan to combine Harvia’s sauna expertise with Toyota’s hydrogen combustion technology. Toyota previously used a hydrogen combustion engine in its Corolla Cross concept vehicle.

The sauna’s hydrogen heater burns hydrogen, producing only heat and water vapour, and it’s expected to emit no CO2 emissions. Just like in a traditional sauna, the heat is directed through sauna stones.
