Two hydrogen refuelling stations planned for Poland

Two hydrogen refuelling stations are set to be built in Poland, as a result of Spain-based Calvera being awarded contracts by Polish engineers Biproraf Spółka z oo Group.

Announced today (June 8), the two stations, planned for the cities of Poznam and Katowice, will serve both heavy-duty and light-duty vehicles, and are hoped to be completed by 2023.

Calvera has said hydrogen will be supplied at 350bar for heavy-duty vehicles, with light-duty vehicles receiving the clean fuel at 700bar. H2 View understands both have a capacity for 1.6 tonnes of hydrogen each day.

The company is also set to deliver ‘several’ 300bar type IV tube trailers to transport hydrogen from production facilities to the refuelling stations.

Rafael Calvera, Executive Vice-President of Calvera, said, “We are delighted to work with Biproraf, an engineering and construction company of long tradition, of the highest quality and great experience. The complementarity of both companies will be the key to the success of the projects.”

In February this year (2022), Hexagon Purus confirmed it had received an order of high-pressure hydrogen systems from an undisclosed Polish bus manufacturer.

The Polish Government unveiled its Hydrogen Strategy in January 2022, that aims to develop and support programmes to build a hydrogen economy that includes only low-emission hydrogen.
