Innovate UK has awarded £630,000 ($815,400) to a project that plans to produce green hydrogen directly from seawater to fuel a harbour patrol vessel.
The HydroPort trials at Portland Port in Dorset will allow newly launched start-up Latent Drive to assess the market potential of its SeaStack electrolyser technology that allows seawater to be used to produce green hydrogen.
The project, supported by Dorset Council, will also see Logan Energy, Saline Business Services and the University of Exeter’s Centre for Future Clean Mobility work on assessing the technology in a port setting.
