The UK Prime Minister and European Commission have called for closer EU-UK cooperation on energy in the North Sea, including hydrogen and carbon capture, amid growing calls to strengthen energy partnerships.
Speaking at an IEA’s energy security summit in London, EC President Ursula von der Leyen said the UK and EU should “team up” to create regulatory certainty so that investors can back developments.
Thanking the UK for its “excellent” cooperation with the bloc, the President said, “Energy is vital to this cooperation. Our work is centred around the North Sea.
“The North Sea has it all… offshore wind, marine energy, hydrogen, carbon capture and storage.”
