‘UK is starting to gain traction’: ITM electrolysers tapped for two unnamed hydrogen projects
ITM Power has been selected to supply an unnamed UK government-shortlisted “large-scale” green hydrogen project with its electrolysers, alongside a separate, smaller development.
The electrolyser maker said the larger project had been shortlisted for subsidies through the government’s second hydrogen allocation round (HAR2), which is expected to confirm successful recipients later this year.
Currently, the HAR2 contracts would require funded projects to be operational between 31 March 2026 and 31 March 2029. However, the HAR process has faced significant delays, with the initial HAR1 scheme still yet to finalise contracts for all projects.
Both developments will use ITM’s 20MW standardised skid-mounted electrolyser unit, Poseidon, which is based on 2MW stacks.
H2 View understands that both developments requested to remain unnamed, with each subject to a final investment decision.
CEO Dennis Schulz said the selections showed that the UK is “starting to gain traction” in green hydrogen and that ITM was “establishing early leadership” in its home market.
It comes after the company was selected to supply 120MW of Poseidon systems to Uniper’s Humber H2ub project in Killingholme, UK.
