Umoe Advanced Composites’ Type IV cylinders approved for US market


Umoe Advanced Composites’ (UAC) Type IV fibre-glass wrapped hydrogen cylinders have received US Department of Transportation (DOT) approval.

They are designed to address a critical gap in current US hydrogen infrastructure, notably high-capacity, 350 bar storage and transport.

The DOT approval allows trailers to be deployed immediately, providing an essential solution for hydrogen distribution and fuelling networks.

UAC claims its Type IV vessels offer a minimum 40% reduction in CAPEX compared with carbon fibre alternatives, and significantly reduced OPEX compared with Type I steel alternatives.
