Uniper and Thyssenkrupp Uhde to build industrial-scale ammonia cracker in Germany


Uniper and Thyssenkrupp Uhde have agreed to jointly develop an industrial-scale ammonia-to-hydrogen cracker plant in Germany with a 28 tonne-per-day capacity.

Located at Uniper’s Gelsenkirchen-Scholven power plant, it will serve as the basis for the planned hydrogen import terminal in Wilhelmshaven being developed by TES and Uniper.

The plant has received backing from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia to realise innovative components of the demonstration plant at the Scholven site.
