Uniper, Ørsted team up for hydrogen hub project that could meet 10% of Germany’s hydrogen demand

German utility Uniper today (Sept 20) said it is joining forces with offshore wind producer Ørsted to produce hydrogen on a large scale for a project in Wilhelmshaven that could provide 10% of Germany’s hydrogen demand.

The hydrogen hub project, dubbed Wilhelmshaven Green Hydrogen, will comprise a 410MW electrolysis plant combined with a terminal, which will be capable of supplying around 295,000 metric tonnes of hydrogen by 2030.

Uniper in April said this 295,000 metric tonnes would provide 10% of the country’s hydrogen demand.
