Updated: Clydeport signs option agreement with Statkraft despite hydrogen project freeze


Norwegian state-owned hydropower firm Statkraft has proposed plans to develop a green hydrogen production and export facility in Scotland, despite recently halting new projects.

Clydeport, a subsidiary of Peel Ports Group, confirmed it had exchanged an option agreement with Statkraft to explore the potential development at its Hunterston Port and Resource Campus (PARC) site.

The facility will be used to produce, store and export hydrogen. The plant will be linked to the existing jetty via pipeline to enable hydrogen export in the form of ammonia.
