US DOE taking ‘business-like’ approach to hydrogen hub decisions, says Wright

US Energy Secretary Chris Wright pushed back against rumours of political bias in hydrogen hub funding during a House committee, saying the Department of Energy is evaluating projects “the same way any business would look at investments.”

Wright faced a grilling by Representatives in the House Appropriations Committee hearing on Wednesday (May 7), where questions were raised about reports that the Department of Energy (DOE) could axe funding for blue state hubs.

Brushing off the questions, Wright said he didn’t know where the rumours were coming from, “because it’s not coming from us.”

He told the committee that the DOE was taking a “thoughtful, thorough, and deliberate” review of all DOE-funded projects – hubs included.
