Venice’s waterways welcome a hydrogen-powered delivery service

Venice’s iconic waterways are playing host to a hydrogen-powered delivery service that hopes to cut carbon dioxide emissions.

Nippon Express Italia (NX Italy) today (August 10) announced it has launched a last-mile delivery service using hydrogen-powered boats for deliveries primarily luxury fashion shops.

Moving away from petrol and diesel engines, the boats are said to be equipped with removable hydrogen generators, hoping to contribute to the European Union’s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% from 1990 levels no later than 2030.
