Western Canada to accelerate hydrogen fuel cell adoption following new agreement

Plug Power is set to extend a new fuel cell system, with operational costs 84% lower than traditional back up power sources, to Western Canada following the signing of a strategic partnership with Westech Industrial announced today (19th April).

With this agreement signed, Plug Power, a leading provider of green hydrogen solutions, will be capable of introducing its hydrogen fuel cells to the wider Canadian market and help the country transition to green energy solutions.

Plug Power’s GenSure LP fuel cell products will be introduced to the western region of Canada with Westech now authorised for sales and to be the service channel under the new agreement.

The GenSure product range provides robust and reliable zero emission backup power with more than 4,800 of these fuel cells at customer sites across the US and 36 other countries.

With more than 100 million installed hours of site power protection, the products are field proven through snow and ice storms, hurricanes and other severe weather events.

This makes the fuel cell technology particularly suited to the western Canadian climate and so sought a deal with Westech to provide trusted, local support to customers to enter the market.
