Wrightbus has delivered 12 new hydrogen-powered buses to German operator WestVerkehr, bringing the total number of Kite Hydroliner single-deckers in Germany to 43.
The vehicles will be operated in North Rhine-Westphalia, between Heinsberg, Hückelhoven and Erkelenz in the westernmost region of Germany.
Germany’s Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs (BMDV) supported the initiative with €3.4m ($3.8m) in funding. The project is also backed by the H2HS consortium, which aims to decarbonise public transport in the region.
