Our shared journey towards hydrogen’s North Star – Reflections on 50 issues of H2 View

When I look back on 50 issues and five years of H2 View, it’s the story of just how far hydrogen has come that stands out. Look at how much we’ve been through – good and bad – in that relatively short timeframe, all of which has presented the opportunity to learn and redefine.

The challenge back then was to communicate the energy transition and the fundamental role of hydrogen in that transition. There was a need to explain how it fits within this puzzle. You could argue, there still is. But that was arguably the biggest talking point back then, as was the conversation around decarbonisation as a whole and how we de-leverage from the geopolitics of fossil fuel economies.

That was still the case back in September 2019, when the first issue of H2 View rolled off the press. Very quickly, however, that conversation in hydrogen shifted to the different shades of the product – from grey to blue to green. We heard about turquoise, too, but the emphasis was very much on green and how we reach that perfect scenario with this amazing, adaptable molecule.
