20MW Everfuel electrolyser project start-up delayed due to ‘quality issue’

The start-up of Everfuel’s 20MW HySynergy 1 electrolyser has been delayed due to a quality issue on high pressure fittings within the high-pressure auxiliary system.

Everfuel said the main electrolyser facility is “ready for start-up,” but failed a test on February 29, 2024, and will require a rebuild on site, pushing back the completion of the facility to the middle of Q2 2024.

The company said it experienced a “quality issue” of high-pressure fittings in the Nel-supplied alkaline electrolyser’s deoxidiser, which removes oxygen and moisture from the hydrogen flow, as part of the high-pressure auxiliary system.
