A greener tipple: Budweiser commits to hydrogen

Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I wants to go green with hydrogen as it commits to developing what it says will be the first large-scale hydrogen generation system at a brewery.

The company today (Oct 19) said it has teamed up with Anheuser-Busch InBev and green hydrogen company Protium on the effort that will see Budweiser’s Magor Brewery, located in Wales, utilise hydrogen to fuel both its brewing process and logistical assets, such as trucks.

To do this, it is expected that the planned hydrogen infrastructure will produce more than 20MW of renewable energy and green hydrogen, and save approximately 15,500 tonnes of CO2 annually from 2027.
