Aberdeen City Council deploys ‘UK’s first’ hydrogen waste truck

Cleaning the streets of Aberdeen will soon be done in an even cleaner way, with Aberdeen City Council today (Feb 17) adding what it says is the UK’s first hydrogen-fuelled waste collection vehicle to its fleet.

Marking the city’s latest move in the hydrogen space, the hydrogen vehicle will next month (March 2022) start collecting waste and recycling around the city, targeting locations such as Bridge of Don, Newhills, Mastrick and many more.

Over the course of its operation, the waste truck will collect vital data which will support the roll-out of future hydrogen-fuelled vehicles within the council’s fleet.
