Abu Dhabi landfill to be cleaned up with methane-to-hydrogen and graphene tech

Levidian and Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company (Tadweer) have agreed to tackle emissions from the one of UAE capital’s largest landfill sites with methane-to-hydrogen and graphene technology.

The companies plan to install Levidian’s LOOP technology to utilise methane emissions from the landfill site for hydrogen and graphene production.

Estimated to deliver 40% emissions reduction from the site, the pilot is expected to offer additional upstream carbon savings through the use of graphene to increase the performance of materials including concrete, batteries and polymers.
