AFC Energy’s next generation cracker reactor achieves milestone a year ahead of schedule

AFC Energy has announced only 9.5kWh of electrical power is needed to produce a kilogramme of hydrogen using its ammonia cracker reactor technology.

The company revealed that this represents a 33% saving in electrical power over its 2023 design and hit AFC’s milestone of <10kWh/kg a year ahead of schedule.

When run on 100% electrical power, the cracker achieved better operational efficiency than expected, with 9.5kWh of electrical power consumed per kilogramme of hydrogen generated.
