Air Liquide and ENEOS look to bolster low-carbon hydrogen in Japan

Air Liquide has partnered with ENEOS Corporation to study the development of low-carbon hydrogen production and use in Japan.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (Mou), the pair will explore upstream opportunities of producing low-carbon hydrogen through both carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) and electrolysis.

Additionally, the companies have said they will examine possible developments importing liquid hydrogen into the Japanese market, while ENEOS says it is separately considering using methylcyclohexane (MCH) as a liquid organic hydrogen carrier (LOHC) for imports.
