ARENA backs Hysata with AUD $20.9m to trial electrolysis tech with ‘95% efficiency’

Australian start-up Hysata has been awarded AUD $20.9m ($13.5m) by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) to demonstrates its electrolyser technology in 5MW test at a Stanwell Corporation site.

Thanks to the funding, Hysata will develop and test a 5MW unit at its manufacturing facility in Port Kembla, New South Wales, where it will then be installed in situ for testing and validation before relocation to Queensland.

Set to be installed to adjacent to Queensland government-owned Stanwell Corporation’s Rockhampton power station, the company is backing the project with AUD $3m ($1.9m), in addition to the site and facilities for the deployment.
