Ark Energy begins construction on the first stage of Australian green hydrogen project

Ark Energy has broken ground for construction of its green hydrogen project in Townsville, Australia, initiating stage one of the SunHQ Hydrogen Hub.

Located within the Sun Metals Green Industrial Precinct in Townsville, SunHQ will involve a 1MW polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) electrolyser to produce green hydrogen from a behind-the-meter connection to the co-located 124MW Sun Metals Solar Farm.

Once operational, SunHQ will be one of the ‘largest’ fully integrated, green hydrogen production and refuelling facilities in Australia, with a production capacity of 155 tonnes of green hydrogen per year.
