bp given the green light for hydrogen hub developments in Aberdeen

bp has been given the green light to help transform Aberdeen, Scotland into a hydrogen hub.

Aberdeen City Council on Thursday (Feb 3) said the oil and gas major has been approved to deliver the ambition as part of a joint venture, which will develop a solar power facility connected to a green hydrogen production and refuelling site.

It is believed hydrogen produced at the site will largely support hydrogen vehicles, particularly buses, heavy goods vehicles and large vans, however, Aberdeen City Council previously said larger supply volumes of the energy carrier could also support rail, freight and marine, as well as for heat and potentially export.
